randomling: Audrey Parker and Nathan Wuornos (Haven) pointing guns at a threat. (audrey and nathan)
I'm watching the S4 finale of Doctor Who. There's a lot of interesting and fun stuff in here and it's nice to have all the gang together doing things and being useful and stuff. But Donna gets such short shrift.

Of course, the end of her story is part of it, because ugh. But also - Captain Jack Harkness, who will pretty much shag anything, won't give Donna a hug? Really? That's just...

I am grossed out by the idea that Donna, being neither under 25 nor rail-thin, is the one person who Jack doesn't find sexually appealing.

Grossed. Out.

My brain really likes inventing crossovers for some reason.

I decided I would throw out some of the ideas that are in my brain:

The three "old" ones are Farscape/popslash, Doctor Who/popslash and Inception/Warehouse 13.

Also:

Farscape/Eureka.
Farscape/Doctor Who.
Doctor Who/Once Upon A Time.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer/How I Met Your Mother.
Firefly/BSG.
How I Met Your Mother/The Big Bang Theory.

I am (probably!) not going to write any of these, but they are sort of fun to make up scenes for in my head.

I don't know why I am making this post, but there you are - they are kind of fun to think about! I want to keep spoilers out of the main post, mostly 'cause I am currently introducing [personal profile] tims to Farscape, but I'm happy to expand on the ideas themselves in the comments! So if you want to ask, ask. [grin]

The end!

I am back from Camp Sparkle. It was awesome.

While there, I made a Who vid (and started another, though the second one needs more work.

I posted it to Youtube, and thought I would share.

It is very short (this was just to learn how to use iMovie, really).

Spurious Doctor Who comment-fic, inspired by the desire for either evil!Ten, Ten being tied up or, well, both. This was the result:

The problem with Last.fm is that if I put in N Sync or Backstreet I get all kinds of unrelated boyband crap. And apparently, either the slash completely fucks with my musical taste, or N Sync and Backstreet are genuinely far better than any other boybands ever.

Time to give up and put the Foo Fighters in, instead.

In other news, the world is making me sad, and so is the media.

Doctor Who Spoilers, BEWARE )

The other thing that's making me sad is the book I'm reading, The Devil In Amber by Mark Gatiss. Cut for spoilers and lack of interest to most people who are not me )

I'm supposed to be writing for tonight. I need to summon up a bunny that will make a particular person happy in the next hour or so.

Sigh.

OMG NOES.

When you see this, post a quote from Dr. Who on your Livejournal.

Okay, people. I have catching up to do. I need to update the June Bug masterlist and make a post giving the most recent posters their props. Sorry to have been behind!

I also still haven't managed to read, never mind FB, any of the D-Day stories, or reply to the FB I received. I will manage that. Sometime soon.

In other news: this week's Doctor Who rocked. I've been a fan of RTD's since way back when (I actually broke my toe running downstairs so as not to miss the start of a QAF episode) and think he's been a fabulous writer and producer of Who. I think it's fair to say that the first season was his best, but subsequent seasons haven't been bad - and while I know he hasn't been popular with all fans everywhere, I do think he's got it in him to be stunning. (No, not every ep he's written has been perfect, but hell, everyone has their off days.) He proved it last week with Midnight which really focussed on his talents: RTD does humanity, really, really well, he does character like no one else, and that episode was all about how people respond in a crisis and it was brilliant. And this week he did the other he does best: showing epic changes of history through character, through the ordinary people it affects and showing ordinary people swept up by events. He's done the ordinary-but-special characters before - not just Rose; Christopher Ecclestone's character in The Second Coming, and the Doctor himself, and even Stuart Jones to an extent - and he does it brilliantly. I'm so looking forward to the next few episodes.

That said, I'm not getting back into Who fandom. More crazy than I am prepared to deal with, for the most part. (Then again - how in the hell am I going to get readers for my Who fic when it's done? Oh, well, that'll have to be dealt with when it's actually finished.)

I think I am done rambling now?

OMG

Rants like this? Are why I no longer have anything to do with Doctor Who fandom.

Someone talk me out of making a long, ranty comment on the relevant [livejournal.com profile] fandom_wank post about everything that's wrong with that blog post? Because it's all been said already, and I have met the (ever so slightly creepy) author of the above blog post, and while it's good that he's aware that he seems to have experienced arrested development at 17, he's apparently quite happy to remain that way for the rest of his days, and seems to feel it's inherently more worthy to be awkward and full of angst than inexpertly trying to start making a life for yourself. Which. Jesus, I can't tell you how disturbing I find that.

OMFG that post makes me so angry and I'm not even sure why!

OMFG!
