PARANOIA

The participants are up for Remix and I'm not on there.

I'm kind of panicking that I got booted for breaking the rules or something. Maybe someone is pinch hitting like mad because my Remix totally failed to be a remix?

But I'm pretty sure that my Remix was not in fact that radical.

More likely it was just an oversight and I'm being silly. But. PARANOIA!

ETA: Crisis over, I have not been kicked. Woo.

Um, I can't swear by it, but I think there was just a misunderstanding somewhere else. Maggie had to ask for a pinchhitter for another reason (and your remix is undoubtably wonderful!) and maybe in worrying about that, she overlooked getting your name on the site?

Suuuuuuuuspeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeense.

Actually, that means they'll go live shortly after I get home from work, which is quite cool.

Hee~

And I'm thinking "oh, oh, please go live before I leave work so I can download 'em and read at home tonight!" (Even though I should write tonight.)

I'd really like to finish the threemanbus, Chris is a llama, smut fic so I can post it for Jammin' July this week. But maybe I need to be realistic and just do a bunch more icons.

From: [identity profile] catviret.livejournal.com
Oooooh. Chris as a llama. That sounds cracky and awesome! ♥

But I would not complain about more of your awesome icons, either. I like how your icons are really candid, it makes me want to co-opt them for story icons.

:)

Thank you! Now I won't feel like I'm wimping out if I do icons instead.

It's very, very cracky. And then somehow I started taking it seriously and it's currently at 6,000 words and I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up close to 9,000 or more.

[beams] If you do get around to making icons, something that's youngish Choey (or just youngish Chris) with a faint red tint would be perfect for my blood porn story...?

Come on Remix.

:( Now I'm rereading the note she sent about pinch-hitting and it sounds like she wanted the pinch-hit by noon PST and then she'd get the fics up after.

I think they won't be up before I have to leave. *sniffle*

Like right now. And if I knew they'd be up in the next hour? I'd so try working a little overtime, but since I don't know that for sure...

Darn.

Okay, so someone's working on a pinch hit right now, and I guess the stories aren't going up until they can all go up.

Who knew I'd be this antsy about the fics when I'm not even taking part?

I know, I'm so antsy too! I wants my Remix.

I'm a grown-up, really.

I've been doing that, too. And then following the links of the participants back to some of the authors I don't know and thinking, "OMG, I don't think I could have possibly remixed any of these. How do they do it?"

OMG LAMBS. ♥

I really want to try remixing next year. *crosses fingers*

Ooh. Talky JC. See, I'm now just obsessing over your icons.

You should totally remix next year. You would love it! It's very fun, but a bit scary.

From: [identity profile] llamabitchyo.livejournal.com
I picked out a whole bunch of pics I wanted to make icons of yesterday. I really need to weed out some of my older fandoms icons because I want to use shiny new ones!

If they run it, I will do it 'cause I finally have enough fics! Yay! But I'm afraid I'll get somebody whose fics I don't understand. Like one of the authors, I can tell she writes well, but I feel stupid reading her fics because I don't quite get what's going on in them. Too subtle or something for me.

Date: 2008-07-15 06:56 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] catviret.livejournal.com
OMG JoC. (Oh, heck. I never fb'd your sequels to the Princess story. Please forgive me! I must go and do that soon because they are made of such shiny awesome, it's not even true.)

And, hmm. IMO, really good writing doesn't make you feel stupid, because it manages to explain everything you need to know without, like, explaining it? (Wow. I'm articulate.)

From: [identity profile] llamabitchyo.livejournal.com
I tend to agree with you, but then I keep thinking "maybe I'm the only one who doesn't get this."

(Oh, yay! She likes my JoeC!)

From: [identity profile] catviret.livejournal.com
Our comments are getting tiiiiiiiiiiiny.

Which author is it, out of curiosity? (It's not me, is it? I do write some fucking stupidly obscure stuff at times, but that's me trying to be "experimental".)

And man. I love your JoeC. And it's weird how neither het, nor poly!fic, nor real-life relationships do it for me very much in normal life, but your JC/Joey/Kelly is gorgeous and romantic and loving and hot as burning scorching hell?

Didn't you once give me a compliment about me convincing you to read stuff you don't think you'll like? Well. Yes, consider that to go both ways. :D

Date: 2008-07-15 07:23 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] llamabitchyo.livejournal.com
It's not you!

(And I'm experimental, too, sometimes with varying results.)

I don't even think it's all of her fics, but over lunch break I read two fics of Maggie's that I've never read before (Down He Came & Raw) and I felt like I didn't quite get either of them. And some of it is that they're not happy fics and there are some more complicated emotions in there and I'm way biased towards happy fics and it made me wonder what I would do if I had to chose from a set that was all unhappy and complicated.

And then I reread Just a Figment and thought, the writing is really beautiful, but again, I don't get the motivations. And maybe that's because I kept chosing Chris/Justin fics. And that's not always easy?

Didn't you once give me a compliment about me convincing you to read stuff you don't think you'll like?

I did indeed. :) Cool!

Edited to add: Oh, I dare you to try to read this in the skinny lil comment form! Ha!

[snort] This is getting ridiculous! Thank God for email notification. Although I didn't get your lovely threemanbus icon with the email!

[cheers for threemanbus]

And hmm, that's interesting. I really love Maggie's fic, but then I'm a sucker for the downbeat ending and also for the angsty Timbertrick she does so well. I would be intimidated trying to remix her, though! Eek!

Perhaps we should take this to another thread somewhere more readable? :D

comment:
See? I totally don't think it's because she's not a good author. It could be that I haven't read lots of Timbertrick. It's a pairing that makes me a little uncomfortable, so I've sorted through and avoided a lot and the unhappy Timbertrick really makes me uncomfortable, even though I think it's more realistic in almost all cases?

Out of the three I just read, I like Raw best. Because I did really get it, once we got to punchline time. But, oh, ouch. I'm such a sucker for happy endings. I'd have to fight the impulse to remix it happy, since I think remixing it to a happy ending oversteps the bounds of remixing.

From: [identity profile] catviret.livejournal.com
Hmm. Yeah that makes some sense. I actually really like the Timbertrick, because the dynamic is so interesting and I'm a sucker for fucked-up relationships and angst (though that's not to say I don't love a happy ending, because I do).

Remixing is interesting because the rule is "keep the basic plot", but that's very fluid. So you can change the ending, I think, if it seems like something you want to do. (I didn't change the ending of mine, though... ahaha I can't say which one I did yet!)

Are you still here? Did you see that we are live? :D

Oh, there are some really good ones. I was so thrilled with the remix of my story. They remixed The Itch, which was a little request fic I wrote in January, and - well, they added a wonderful twist, but I won't spoil it for you in case you haven't got to it yet. It's just. Yes. Brilliant.

I am off sick from work (again - damn antibiotics make me feel like crap) and trying to write porn. It's my Jammin' July day and I want to finish the sequel to the blood porn.

Actually, your fic's remix was one of the one's I was worried about. Because it made me think it was totally brilliant and yet, I might have been upset if it was my fic done like that. And now that I've looked at my flist both of the remixes I was feeling that way about were loved by the original author. So, all is good.

*hugs you*

Feel better soon! :)

*hugs* Thanks, I need it! It's all hands on deck at work tomorrow (results day) so I've got to be in if I can manage it.

I'll be honest, I've never done the remix thing before and I wasn't totally sure how I would react to someone going in and playing with one of my stories? But what they did was just so clever and so funny - and did something I hadn't managed, which was explain what the heck is going on - and I was just so unbelievably thrilled with it.

Also, the writing in the remix is about forty-eight times better than the writing in the original (I've SO done better) so I feel like my little story has been poked and prodded and shaken and improved. It's rather wonderful. :D

I was thinking that last night! I kind of wish I had a copy.

Although actually, I kind of wish I had a copy of the movie, but with Chris sparklycast as Peter, Joey as Ray and Justin as Egon. Which is, sadly, a movie that only exists in fantasy form in my head.

JC is clearly Sigourney Weaver and Lance is Rick Moranis.

OMG. :D

Dude. I wonder what clips you would use. And would it be to the Ghostbusters theme music?

You'd need that shot of them walking all serious-like from Armageddon!sync, natch...

And yes it totally should. I want geekified Justin as Egon! Please?

I was thinking it would be the theme music. But I so don't know my footage enough to know where to begin. Fun to think about, though!

Oh, and Justin with curls as all geeky and Egon-ish. Mmmmmm. There's something stupidly hot about that.

That is in fact ridiculously hot, isn't it? Mmm. Then again, my love for dorky!Justin knows no bounds, so I'm not very surprised.

Hmm. I think I'm going to offer up "epic Ghostbusters sparklycast" as a prompt for [livejournal.com profile] bittybang. Because YES. ♥
