Pianoing, week 2.

So Lesson One was easy - literally nothing to challenge me, as it's the very basics, which I have at least not forgotten.
Lesson Two seems similarly easy except for one problem which is really bothering me, but I'll get to that.
The aim of Lesson One was to teach some basic hitting of the right notes with the right hand and the beginnings of reading music. (Notation-wise, I'm very comfortable with the treble clef, and mostly okay with the bass clef, though occasionally I still have to count down from a note I remember the first time).
There were three practice pieces, all of which I can now play by heart.
The aim of Lesson Two is to introduced chords and playing with the left hand.
Concepts
Notes: Bass clef - G below middle C to lower C (not sure of the actual terminology here!)
Chords: C and G7
Pieces
Untitled (C and G7 practice)
Ode to Joy (Beethoven) (a very simple two-handed arrangement)
Chords!
I love chords, but I find it very difficult for some reason to play all of the notes of a chord at exactly the same time. And when I don't hit them at the same moment (there's sometimes a fraction of a second's difference) the chord sounds messy.
I dislike this!
I found a free online piano book which looks like it might be helpful, but the thoughts of anyone who knows about piano technique, or where to find good information, would be welcomed! (For financial reasons I am teaching myself at the moment, but if/when I have more money to spend on fun things, I might invest in piano lessons.)
I need a piano icon.
