You wouldn't think that I passed minimum wordcount on this days ago, would you?

I'm not done writing for the day (in fact, I've come to a few scenes that I've been planning in my head for a long time, so I may be only just getting started). But I'm posting my "update bar" for a different reason.

26,602 / 80,000 (33.3%)

I just hit a third of my projected word count. 33.3%. And yet, I'm not a third of the way through this story. I can tell because the story's going to be in three parts, and I haven't written anywhere near all of Part One yet (in fact, I've written maybe half of it, but I think not). So I have no idea, at 26,000+ words, exactly what the total word count of this story is going to be.

I'm going to continue assuming that it's 80k until I've at least written some more of this and have a better idea of its real size and shape. But Jesus, people, I may have to significantly increase my daily wordcount if I'm going to get this story book written.

49 days to deadline. If I write 1k a day until then, I'll hit 75,000 words. Which is huge. But nowhere near enough.

I'm gonna try for 3k today.

Maybe you should not try to guess how long it's going to be? And just go with the flow?
Because if you find out it's going to be eight million words long, it's going to be a little bit... overwhelming ? And you've done do much already! :D

I have done a lot. Look at that shiny word count. I might even hit 30k tonight.
