Oh, that is really interesting - I feel exactly the opposite way (I loved Turlough, who was snarky and cranky and FUN, but found Nyssa mostly somewhat bland. I think I have a thing for broken characters).
Allison Janney is one of my favourite actresses ever. She is so funny, and like so many good comedians, she also knocks serious roles (or scenes) out of the park. And CJ is an incredible character - one of my top three reasons to watch The West Wing (second, actually, after Epic Josh/Donna Ship and before Toby Ziegler).
I can see how that would resonate! I'm not personally that drawn to Adric but I think you're right, it's a personal resonance thing. My oh-my-heart classic companions are Ace, Turlough and Tegan, and I also love Leela and Sarah Jane).
(I'm still yoinking icons... just found some more West Wing stuff that is making me go YAY.)

I think that's one reason I never hated Adric as passionately as so many did. He was...lost and genius and ignored and that resonated with me.
