guilt is like a ghost
it saunters through the shadows
it leaves cold spots in corners
it dances in the dark

guilt is like a child
a child can't help but notice
if no one wants to listen

guilt can sing so loud
it doesn't seem to matter
we always drown it out
we find another song

it comes when you're alone
it brings along a weapon
a knife so sharp it doesn't hurt
a blade so long it never ends

guilt is like a ghost
