I approve of the self-parody stuff (I always loved those episodes of The X-Files!) and in fact the part of the episode that is a direct parody of The X-Files, complete with alien abduction. In fact this episode owes a lot to the comedy episodes of that show, complete with differing versions of the story, twisted versions of the main characters as seen through each others' eyes, and substitute words.

One weirdness though. Dean classifies an animal-testing research scientist as "a dick"? Really? That's a lot more warm and fluffy than I would have counted on for our Dean, I have to say. But there you go!

Ahaha. Nice ending!

I don't have a clue what the episode is all about but try to keep in mind American television is still heavily censored and 'dick' is actually a very offensive term on 9pm television viewing. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the show would have to be on after 10 [and possibly a smaller network, but that may not be remotely true] for him to use 'asshole'. The choice of words may simply be a nod to what they're actually allowed to say.

That is interesting, and it did also occur to me that "dick" was quite a strong word for US television! (And they use it several times during the episode, so that wasn't the only chance they had to say it!)

Struck me as odd that the character would be opposed to animal testing, though.

heh, I can't help you with the animal testing thing, but I'm sure somebody else will know more about it. Only two episodes I've ever liked have been ones where they were beating up on Soap Opera Guy, so what do I know about characters. ;-)

They are always beating up on Soap Opera Guy. It's a total trend. :D

Near as I can tell, he's asking for it. ;-) Floppy Haired Guy is not exactly helping him either.

Hee. Very true! :D
