'N SYNC star LANCE BASS is feeling foolish after picking the wrong dogs at a Los Angeles animal shelter.

The singer decided to treat his Yorkshire terrier JACKSON to two new brothers as an early Christmas gift last month (NOV03), but he got his pooches mixed up.

He explains, "I wanted two Australian shepherds and the vet laughed at me when I told them they were Australian shepherds because they're actually beagles."

But he has no plans to return the pooches - they now live with him and Jackson in his new Los Angeles home.
