I am, oh my God, so angry at Amazon right now. Here's the Publishers Weekly article all about it. Basically: they have removed all "adult" titles from their sales rankings. That's not just erotica, but anything with any queer content at all.

They say it's a glitch. I would like to believe them, but they're clearly lying - they wrote emails about this. Someone, somewhere, made a policy decision. It's insane. And it's happened on the UK site, too, in breach of anti-discrimination law.

I'm so angry!

I won't be buying from Amazon again, is the upshot. In fact they are just about to get removed from my bookmarks. I guess Play, Borders, John Lewis, and online second-hand bookshops are getting my business from now on. Because this sucks.

And at some point I should really make a post on my writing blog about why.

What a sophisticated glitch, to send out emails from customer service and everything! Right, that's believable. I'm so sick of the gay=porn bullshit. I mean, The Advocate College Guide for LGBT Students, that's some great erotica right there.

Fuck them. I'm definitely boycotting Amazon, and hopefully quite a few people will be doing the same. (Probably not enough to make a dent, but a girl can dream.)

Bullshit is exactly the right word for all of this. I'm so unbelievably angry at them for this. Because - I mean, for one, it was a fucked-up thing to do anyway (why take adult books out of your sales rankings? I mean, people might want to find them right?) - but to decide that anything even vaguely queer is an adult book?

SIGH. :(

Yeah, they won't be getting any more business from me. Stupid asshole bastard people.
