This article on queerness in Night Vale from thingswithwings is a really, really interesting read and if you are into Welcome to Night Vale I highly recommend it.

Think about this reversal, listeners. Think about the horror story where we side with the strangeness and the darkness and the monsters hidden from view. Where the bright yellow sunshine of Strexcorp threatens to burn away the angelic darkness protecting Old Woman Josie; where Intern Vithya ascends to heaven pulsing with a "dark aura."
