Yeah, I have to admit I was leery of putting Yiddish into Joel's mouth, which was part of the reason I asked! And one thing I really don't want to do is end up writing Joel as if he's, say, Toby Ziegler from The West Wing (much as I adore the character and the show).

I think that based on that, Joel will probably swear a bit like me (except he is probably not quite as sailor-like as me, and might not swear by Jesus quite so often). In sum: Anglo Saxon for the win. :D
